Before you will go on this one-day tour
If you are planning a one-day tour or trip and need a car, we can help you rent a car with or without a driver at local prices. You can leave a request here.
So, we have a route to the high-mountainous area of Bali island – Bedugul, where there are three sacred lakes – Beratan, Buyan, and Tamblingan, located in the huge crater of an ancient volcano. And if you move north from Bedugul, a dozen high, powerful waterfalls of Bali are hidden in the jungles.
Attention! Bedugul and mountainous areas are rich in rain, even in the dry season. Therefore, going to Bedugul attractions early in the morning is better. Considering the weather conditions, and mountain roads, we recommend going to Bedugul by car. You can rent a car here.
Strawberry juice and mountain lake
We make our first stop at a strawberry plantation in a picturesque location on the shores of Lake Beratan. A pleasant bonus of the stop may be a visit to one of Bali’s most popular temples (Pura Ulun Danu Beratan).
We pass through the official entrance to this temple when travelling along the road from the south of the island to Bedugul. And turn at a small turn towards the lake where a sign for Di Kubu Strawberry (located behind Animal Stop) can be seen. They prepare Indonesian dishes simply in the warung, and the menu is small. If someone is hungry, there are fried bananas, ikan bakar (grilled fish), and nasi goreng (fried rice) on the menu. There are still many adventures ahead on the route, so it won’t hurt to have some refreshments.
Approaching Lake Beratan, there is a gate on the right-hand side. If it is open, don’t hesitate to walk two hundred meters. Voila, you are at the famous Pura Ulun Danu Beratan temple. Don’t linger for too long, take a couple of selfies and head back to the car! We have many events waiting for us today. We need to make it to the waterfalls before the rain, which is a frequent guest in Bedugul.
Sekumpul waterfalls and Lemukih rice terraces
Next, we head north of the island on the Denpasar-Singaraja route towards the north and don’t forget to turn right after the Sekumpul Waterfall sign (GPS: -8.228278, 115.149722).
Then, we drive to the parking lot in the village of Lemukih (WARUNG GARDHA on Google maps). We can take a guide or walk down to the FIJI rice terraces independently. The landmark on the map (GPS: -8.181806, 115.183243) is where we find the coolest viewpoint in Bali with views of real mountain rice terraces. There is also a warung Fiji where we can eat fried bananas, and drink coffee, or coconut water.
Next, we recommend visiting two sources of Lemukin waterfalls. One of them will be right behind the ticket booth. And the other needs to be searched for if you go to the left along the path from the Fiji Warung at the point where the road sharply turns to the right.
Now we descend the stairs to the territory of the “Lost World,” as I call the space of the Sekumpul and Lemuk waterfalls. If you go along the obvious path to the right, you will see three powerful and beautiful Sekumpul waterfalls, and to the left, two incredible Lemuk waterfalls. Along the way, you will come across streams, and in the rainy season, there may be more of them.
Across the bridge, there is an exit to the Sekumpul village, which does not have its waterfalls but was the first to make a passage for tourists and now sells its guides at a high price! You can climb this hill to see the entire panorama of waterfalls.
Then we go back to the Lemuk village. On the way back, I recommend taking local motorcycle taxis—they will take you up to the parking lot at high speed.
Punchak Wanagiri – a place for photoshoots
We return to Bedugul and follow Janlan Munduk-Wanagiri Street towards Tambingan Lake. For 5–7 kilometres, the road runs along the crest of an ancient volcano. In clear weather, the Bali Sea is visible to the north, and the mountains of Buyan and Tambli can be seen to the south, along with other Bedugul mountains.
